S2-Series Wet/Dry Sow Feeder
The Crystal Spring Wet/Dry Sow Feeder optimizes feed intake during this critical
production phase. By bringing together the advantages of a wet/dry feeder and adaptability
to suit the individual personality of each sow, the sows consume more feed and produce
more milk. Healthy sows produce healthier litters.
SOWS EAT MORE AND WASTE LESS
The Crystal Spring Wet/Dry Feeder allows sows to choose between eating dry feed
or mixing feed with water. The nipple is placed low in the feeder to provide ample
water with mimimal wastage. By placing the water nipple in the feed compartment,
sows do not have to remove their head from the feeder to get water. The results
mean that sows have 6.0% greater average daily feed intake with minimal wastage.
The sows with greater daily feed intake produce more milk.
ADJUSTS TO EACH SOW'S APPETITE
Each sow's personality influences its eating habits. The Crystal Spring Wet/Dry
Sow Feeder has an adjustment slide that may be set to suit each sow, wider for the
slow eaters and tighter for those with more aggressive appetites. The feeder pan
is curved and the nipple placement is low so that water accumulation is minimized.
HEAVIER LITTERS, MORE PIGLETS
The pigs get the essential start that they need. Litters have a 14.3% greater weight
gain 8.8% better preweaning survival rate, and 8.0% more pigs are weaned when sows
are fed from Crystal Springs wet/dry feeders compared to dry feeders. Also, sanitation
is maintained in the pen.
FASTER BREED BACK
Sows return to estrus in 9.0% fewer days. Breed back is faster. More litters per
year.
DESIGN FEATURES
All 304 stainless steel. Easy to adjust. Easy to clean. Available in 12" and 15"
(30.5cm and 38.1 cm) models that fit most farrowing crates. Feed capacity is 18lbs
and 23lbs (8.2kg and 10.4 kg), respectively.
